Specifications:

  • Best season: December to April
  • Time: You can choose the number of days you want to go fishing. Please note that the minimum number of days of the plan is 5 days and 4 nights (3 and a half days of fishing)
  • Comfort level: 3 or 4 on a scale of 1 to 5 depending on the selected accommodation (Level 3 if camping on the Bita River or the Tomo, in large tents type expedition with beds, two people per tent and latrine bath. Or Level 4 if it is in hotel in Puerto Carreño), fiberglass boats, trucks to get closer to the river, typical food, made in the camp, abundant and well presented.
  • Ecosystem: Plateau, inter tropical savannas zones and forest
  • Weather: Warm with an average temperature of 28°C.
  • Elevation: 50 meters over sea level.
  • Location: State of Vichada, east of Colombia bordering Venezuela.

How to book

For bookings please write to info@ecoglobalexpeditions.com with names, emails and phone numbers (phone numbers and emails are really important, so we can inform the customers in case of any change).

Itinerary

The following itinerary is informative.

Day 1

After arriving in Puerto Carreno we will drive to the Bita river’s camp. We’ll have lunch and opportunity to enjoy the unique landscape of this majestic river in the middle of unspoiled scenario. At night we will have dinner.

In the case of people who prefer hotel accommodation in Puerto Carreño, we will go from the airport to the hotel, to prepare to go fishing. In this case always at the end of the day we return to Puerto Carreño for dinner and accommodation.

Day 2,3,...

We will launch at 6 am by boat, fishing in different zones of the river. At 10:00 am we will have breakfast and rest in the camping area, then we will continue fishing till 2:00 pm and will head back to our camp site to have lunch. From 3:00 till 6:00 pm we will take advantage of our last fishing hours. At the evening we will have dinner and time to have a bath in the river.

Last day

We will depart after breakfast to Puerto Careno to take our flight to Bogota.

Travel tips

This is an adventure and fishing expedition to one of the most remote and remote regions of the country. The tourist infrastructure is almost nonexistent. The expeditionaries must be willing to fish under the sun of the Orinoquía savanna.

If you are coming from a different city to Bogota we recommend scheduling your return to your hometown either at the last hour of the day of return from Puerto Carreño or the following day so as not to have inconveniences if there are delays in air or land transfers to Bogota (Already happened to us …)

Must bring:

  • Comfortable cotton or Lycra clothing, fishing type, for warm weather, preferably long sleeves.
  • Swimming suite.
  • Shoes, tennis shoes, trekking shoes or boots.
  • A pair of extra shoes, tennis shoes, flip flops or crocs.
  • Hat.
  • Small flashlight with extra batteries.
  • Sun glasses.
  • Small backpack to use in the boat.
  • Personal hygiene items, in small amounts.
  • Personal first aid kit.
  • Mosquito repellent.
  • Sun block.
  • Fishing gear: fishing rod, lures, fishing reel and fishing line.
  • Money for tips, suvenirs and personal expenses.
  • Personal documents (ID, passport, health insurance).
  • Camara.
  • Aunque todos nuestros guías tienen conocimientos en primeros auxilios y llevan un botiquín para casos de emergencia, todo buen caminante debe llevar sus medicinas y un pequeño botiquín personal

Attention: Maximum weight permitted in domestic flight is 15 Kg.

Notes:

  • Get the following vaccinations prior to your trip to Colombia: Yellow Fever and Tetanus and carry your vaccination card with your personal documents.
  • Where possible carry the least amount of wrappers, cans or glasses.
  • Do not take or bring expensive personal items (the Rolex and the Cartier earrings please leave them at home).
  • Do not wear elements of private use of the armed forces (clothing camouflaged)
  • Do not carry or consume toxic, psychoactive or hallucinogenic substances and refrain from drinking too much liquor.
  • Keep in mind that we will be staying in a very remote place, our hosts will do everything in their power to serve us as best as possible, within the conditions of the place and its culture.
