The next streams upstream are those of Zamuro and Cualet, much more impressive. We include a walk through the jungle between the two, when the river does not allow the passage of the boats due to its level.
• Meet “The Waterway Star of the South” – confluence of the Orinoco, Atabapo and Guaviare Rivers.

Trip details:

• Duration of the trip: 8 days
• Trekking time: 3 hours daily through the hills, jungle, savannah and river beaches.
• Distance: 5-10 kms each day.
• Ecosystem: tropical rainforest and savannah.
• Climate: warm and humid with an average temperature of 26°C.
• Elevation: 100 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l).

The scenario setting for “La Voragine” by José Eustasio Rivera and “Personal Narrative of a Journey to the Equinoctial Regions of the New Continent” by Alexandeer von Humboldt in the 19th Century.

The Mavecure, Pajarito and Mono Hills, stand out as huge natural pyramids in the middle of the lush jungle on the bank of the majestic Inirida River, which is inhabited by playful fresh water dolphins. Further north, our boats will get to the “Waterway Star of the South”; the vast confluence of the Orinoco, Atabapo and Guaviare rivers on the border with Venezuela.

In addition, we will go from the Orinoco to Mono Hill which is set on the great plain of Vichada, to finally find the spectacular rapid of Maipures – often called the eighth natural wonder of the world.

• Important note about transportation to the starting location: Our expeditions begin at the indicated place according to the proposed itinerary. For this reason, in the vast majority we do not include in the price the value of the transfer (land or air) from your city of residence to the city where the expedition begins. If you have purchased an air or land ticket on your own to attend this expedition and the transport company (airline or land transportation company) cancels the trip or postpones it or if there are significant delays due to weather, technical aspects of the aircraft or vehicles, situations at airports, transport terminals or roads, pilots or drivers, etc., that prevent you from arriving at the start time of the expedition, these are considered risks inherent to the trip that the client assumes and in no case the unforeseen events of the client’s journey are transferred neither to the hotel nor to Ecoglobal Expeditions. It is very important that you understand that this is a situation in which Ecoglobal Expeditions has no responsibility. Remember that if you do not show up at the established time and date, without notifying us sufficiently in advance (please see the previous paragraph), this situation is considered a “No Show” and in principle we cannot give you any money refund, due to that we have carried out all the previous administrative and logistical work to guarantee the smooth development of the expedition (example: we have bought all the food for all the people, we have reserved accommodation and internal transportation, we have hired local guides, we have acquired insurance, we have reserved and paid permits to National Parks, etc.). It is also important that you keep in mind that in particular cases we do buy tickets for clients, at their express request. In this case Ecoglobal Expeditions acts as a facilitator and bridge between the client and the airline or ground transportation company that provides the service. This additional service that the operator offers does not hold it responsible at any time for delays in the itinerary caused by weather or other types of situations beyond the operator’s control. There is no contractual relationship between the operator and the client regarding this service.

ATTENTION: The following itinerary may change depending on the date of your reservation, on some dates the outbound flight is Bogotá – Puerto Inírida and the return flight is Puerto Carreño – Bogotá, in these cases we make the crossing in the direction of Puerto Inírida – Puerto Carreño. Ask us before purchasing your airline tickets.

This is an adventure expeditions to one of the most remote regions in the country.The tourism infrastructure is almost nonexistent.

The expeditionary must be willing to walk under the sun, on the rocky and sandy terrain of the Orinoco savanna.

In camp sites there are no toilets nor showers, a portable latrine is installed and bath can be taken in the rivers, obviously without the use of soap.

It is required a walk of about 4 hours round trip in the savannah, with no major climbs and descents and without shadow to get to The Tuparro National Park. Each expeditionary should carry their own backpack with clothes and personal items for three days (the fewer things you carry the less weight!) What is not needed for the first three days can be left in the hotel in Inirida the first day.

• As far as possible take the least amount of wrappers, cans or glasses and please, we return home all the inorganic wastes that we carry in our backpack «if you carry it in your backpack, you can return in your backpack»
• Be previously vaccinated against yellow fever and tetanus
• Don’t bring items that are typically used by the military (i.e. camouflage clothing)
• Don’t bring or take toxic, psychoactive or hallucinogenic and alcoholic substances
• Don’t bring jewelry or valuables – Rolex watches and Cartier earrings; please leave them at home!
• During the trek, don’t separate from the group and don’t remain alone at any time.
• Bear in mind that we will be staying in a very remote place and our hosts will do everything for us as best as they can, given the local conditions and culture.
• We want that during our visit to these far, remote and often forgotten territories, all: guides, coordinators and tourists, we contribute to the economy of these regions and small towns,  buying in the stores, stores, bakeries and restaurants, their products and merchandise (such as sweets, chocolates, soft drinks, sweets, fruits, etc.) and acquiring local handicrafts. It is a small support through which we include these communities in the tourism value chain. If you like to consume very sophisticated foods or special diets (almonds, sugar-free chocolates, dried seeds or dehydrated fruits, for example), which you will not be able to get in the shops of the villages, we recommend you take them with you. Thank you for joining this initiative, this is called sustainable tourism!
