Trip details:

• Duration of the trip: 6 days
• Trekking time: 3 hours daily through the hills, jungle, savannah and river beaches.
• Distance: 5-10 kms each day.
• Ecosystem: tropical rainforest and savannah.
• Climate: warm and humid with an average temperature of 26°C.
• Elevation: 100 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l).

The scenario setting for “La Voragine” by José Eustasio Rivera and “Personal Narrative of a Journey to the Equinoctial Regions of the New Continent” by Alexandeer von Humboldt in the 19th Century.

We begin our journey through the Raudal de Atures, the widest in the world, then we enter into the heart of El Tuparro National Park in Vichada to see the spectacular Maipures raudal (the eighth natural wonder of the world).

We continue our journey to the south, passing by Cerro Mono in the middle of the great plain. Beyond, our boats will reach the Southern Fluvial Star, the immense confluence of the Orinoco, Atabapo and Guaviare rivers on the border with Venezuela.

We will visit Puerto Inírida capital of the department of Guainía and travel to the Cerros de Mavecure, Pajarito and Mono that stand out as huge natural pyramids in the middle of the exuberant jungle on the banks of the majestic Inírida River, with its playful dolphins (freshwater dolphins).

This is an adventure expeditions to one of the most remote regions in the country.The tourism infrastructure is almost nonexistent.

The expeditionary must be willing to walk under the sun, on the rocky and sandy terrain of the Orinoco savanna.

In camp sites there are no toilets nor showers, a portable latrine is installed and bath can be taken in the rivers, obviously without the use of soap.

It is required a walk of about 4 hours round trip in the savannah, with no major climbs and descents and without shadow to get to The Tuparro National Park. Each expeditionary should carry their own backpack with clothes and personal items for three days (the fewer things you carry the less weight!) What is not needed for the first three days can be left in the hotel in Inirida the first day.

• Be previously vaccinated against yellow fever and tetanus
• Don’t bring items that are typically used by the military (i.e. camouflage clothing)
• Don’t bring or take toxic, psychoactive or hallucinogenic and alcoholic substances
• Bring the least amount of wrappers, cans or glass.
• Don’t bring jewelry or valuables – Rolex watches and Cartier earrings; please leave them at home!
• During the trek, don’t separate from the group and don’t remain alone at any time.
• Bear in mind that we will be staying in a very remote place and our hosts will do everything for us as best as they can, given the local conditions and culture.
• We want that during our visit to these remote, far and often forgotten territories, all: guides, coordinators and tourists, we contribute to the economy of these regions and small towns (Carreño, Garcitas, Cazuarito, Acapulco, Amanaven, Inirida), buying in the stores, bakeries and restaurants, their products and merchandise (such as sweets, chocolates, soft drinks, sweets, fruits, etc.) and acquiring local handicrafts. It is a small support through which we include these communities in the tourism value chain. If you like to consume very sophisticated foods or special diets (almonds, sugar-free chocolates, dried seeds or dehydrated fruits, for example), which you will not be able to get in the shops of the villages, we recommend you take them with you.
