Pacific Region

The Pacific Region is one of Colombia’s six natural regions, stretching across almost the entire department of Chocó and the coastal areas of Valle del Cauca, Cauca, and Nariño. This territory boasts extraordinary ecological richness, abundant rivers, valuable mineral and forest resources, and is home to several national natural parks. Recognized as one of the most biodiverse and rainiest places on Earth, it offers lush landscapes teeming with life.

It is also the heartland of Afro-Colombian culture and home to numerous indigenous communities—once called ‘chocoes’ by the Spanish during the Conquest—representing diverse linguistic and cultural traditions. Facing the vast Pacific Ocean, this coastline serves as both a natural treasure and a vital international gateway for Colombia.
