Duitama

The municipality of Duitama is located 50 kilometers from Tunja, on the Cundi-Boyacense plateau, in the central-eastern part of Colombia, in the Chicamocha River valley, which establishes its border with the department of Santander.
Duitama has a great water wealth, coming from the paramos of Pan de Azúcar and La Rusia, which are located within the area of this municipality, giving rise to important rivers such as the Chicamocha, La Rusia, Surba, and others as well as numerous streams that flow through the departments of Boyacá and Santander.

The urban area of the municipality of Duitama is located at 2,590 meters above sea level, and its average temperature is 16ºC.
The name Duitama is a tribute to Chief Tundama, who ruled over the various groups of the Muisca people who inhabited this region.
