Amazon Jungle
Located at the southern end of Colombia, mostly south of the equator in the Amazon region, this department borders Caquetá and Vaupés to the north, Brazil to the east, Peru to the south, and Putumayo to the west. Covering 110,000 km², it is the country’s largest and one of the least populated. Entirely within the Amazon Jungle in Colombia, its southern area—known as the ‘Amazonian Trapezoid’—includes the triple border with Peru and Brazil, with the Amazon River marking its southern boundary.
This pristine territory offers travelers a gateway to breathtaking landscapes, from dense tropical rainforests teeming with wildlife to majestic river networks ideal for boat expeditions. Visitors can immerse themselves in the traditions of indigenous communities, explore unique biodiversity found nowhere else on Earth, and experience the magic of sunsets over the Amazon River—making it a dream destination for ecotourism and adventure seekers alike.
